Winner of the Rarotonga Trip

It is with great excitement that we have done our final draw for the major prize. The winner is the, Community Energy Trust.

Their mission is to provide energy solutions that are good for people and good for the environment. They install practical energy efficiency measures in homes. Household energy efficiency protects health and provides comfort, increasing the value of your energy dollar and limiting demand on electricity use.

Although it is now widely recognised that house insulation (energy efficiency) holds the key to home comfort and environmental sustainability, CEA has actively promoted energy solutions since 1994. While a lot has been achieved there is still much more to do. You can find them here

Free eftpos winner

Our latest and final winner of our free eftpos promotion was Wormald Cylinder Test Station in 62 Mahia Road Auckland.  Ruth was delighted with the terminal and to get it free made it a very good Christmas.  They use eftpos for their over the counter cylinder testing and LPG filling services.

Thanks to all those customers who took up our eftpos service over the last six months.  It has been a very successful promotion and we look forward to being of service.

Xmas Promotion finishes

Our Christmas promotion has finished and we will soon announce the winner of the trip for two to Rarotonga. We have also finished our consumables promotion. There were no major eftpos outages with Paymark reporting between noon and 1pm on the 24th December 2007,

*338,000 electronic transactions were processed - breaking the previous one-hour record by about 18,000.

*Paymark recorded a record 110 transactions a second.

Paymark also recorded nearly 20 million electronic transactions through the week leading up to Christmas - processed either in stores or online - reflecting an excess of $1 billion spent.

We hope you managed to take advantage of the spending and have a good christmas with your family.

Credit card fraud - A real risk

Over the last year business customers and cardholders have experienced losses exceeding several million dollars. Based on Visa statistics, credit card fraud in New Zealand has doubled from 0.06% of turnover in 2006 to 0.12% in 2007. The biggest single credit card fraud committed last year was $5 million. Over half of fraudulent transactions are made over the Internet - even though they make up only 4% of transactions.

Make  sure you upgrade your terminal to reduce this threat.

New Compliance Dates Mooted

The proposed policy for new PED (Pin Entry Device) installations is as follows:

1. From 01/07/08 all new PED installations must be NZBA PCI PED certified devices. This timeframe accommodates:

a. The practicalities of an adequate notice period to Terminal Vendors and run out of purchased stock.
b. Terminal Vendor compliance to VISA PCI PED mandate for new purchase prior to NZBA PCI PED policy implementation.
c. A satisfactory timeframe for Terminal Vendors to meet full NZBA compliance.
