Commerce Commission releases written decision

The commerce commission has published their decision for the merger so if you are interested in their opinion of the marketplace then you can download it here.

We are please the commission recognised what we are trying to achieve in offering choice to New Zealand merchants.

“The Commission found there to be more resellers of standalone EFTPOS
technology than integrated technology, as the majority of local dealers tend to
supply small businesses that require only basic solutions. However, dealers of
standalone EFTPOS technology could easily expand into selling integrated
technology and there are some that currently sell both e.g. Viaduct and ENZ. “

Changes in terminal types

With the latest security upgrades and the move to different types of connectivity (GPRS and Broadband) there are some significant changes in our product mix.  We are no longer selling the Hypercom T7Plus, the blue Keycorp K23 on ETSL and the Keycorp K78 mobile eftpos.

The most significant is the removal of the T7Plus.  This was the upgraded HypercomT7P and is a very popular unit. We will be supporting the terminal through till 2014 however it does not support a broadband connection and currently does not work with the MIPS product.  We are replacing this terminal with the Hypercom T4220 and S9 pinpad.

The blue Keycorp k23 is no longer being sold by Provenco  and we are replacing this with the Ingenico i5100 or the Cadmus Mini Me.

The Keycorp K78 was the only mobile that connected to the eftpos new zealand network and this will be replaced within the next four weeks by the Verifone VX610.
