To help avoid catastrophic climate change NZ needs to Sign On to a 40 per cent by 2020 emissions reduction target at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen in December.

Climate scientists are saying we only have about 10 years left to rapidly reduce greenhouse emissions before we reach the point of irreparable damage.

Encourage John Key to step up and take responsibility to change what is happening to our planet, before it is too late!

Avoid Credit Card fraud happening to you!

Credit card fraud happens more often than you may think and  if a credit card payment turns out to be fraudulent, it could end up costing your business more than the original sale was worth.

You should be aware of your responsibility as a merchant to verify that the purchaser of goods and services is the legitimate owner of the card. Continue reading ‘Avoid Credit Card fraud happening to you!’

Verifone version 5.1 upgrade

We like to ensure that all EFTPOS terminals used by our merchants are compliant with the latest EMVCo global security standards and terminal functionality. Keeping up-to-date with the latest standards and functionality is essential as it helps to maintain the integrity of card payments world-wide by helping to minimise fraud and provide a common global payment experience.

As new standards and functionality are introduced it becomes necessary to remove older technology that inhibits these new features and standards.

The Verifone version 5.1 EFTPOS terminals are causing interoperability with chip cards issued by overseas institutions. Such issues include transactions declining by no fault of the cardholder, their issuing institution or you as the merchant. Make sure you know how to process a chip card transaction correctly by watching our handy step by step instruction videos.

Recession shows signs of lifting

Retail, one of the sectors hit hardest in the recession, is beginning to show signs of life again.

Retail sales figures that are about to be released for August, show New Zealand spending is up for the second month in a row.

Paul Whiston of eftpos providers Paymark says Auckland’s shopping mecca High Street is once again showing favourable signs.

“What we’ve seen change is that people are now starting to spend more on entertainment and leisure - going out for dinner - and now we’re beginning to see some increase and improvement on the retail sector,” he says.

While July and August have shown improvement in consumer spending, official figures are measured in quarters - meaning it will be another month before the increase can be called a trend.
