More Choice for New Zealand Retailers
The New Zealand Retailers Association is pleased to announce the addition of Wellington based company Viaduct as a National Business partner for the Association. New Zealand Retailers Association Chief Executive John Albertson says that Viaduct will take the place of ProvencoCadmus as the alternative payments provider for members. A key factor in this decision is to allow maximum choice for Association members in terms of their terminal selection. “With Hypercom’s recent return to the New Zealand market, it highlighted the need to partner with a provider that can deliver all the terminal options to our members. With Hypercom also being the most popular terminal amongst or members, we had to ensure that the needs of our members are being met.” There are also a range of additional enhancements that Viaduct can provide, such as ‘outage free’ eftpos which allows retailers to continue transacting even if the network or the phone lines go down, WiFi eftpos and eftpos without contracts. Mr Albertson says there are many changes occurring in the marketplace and retailers need to ensure that their provider allows them to keep up with these changes. “With the ongoing upgrades in the eftpos market we encourage our members to lease their eftpos equipment and Viaduct provides the choices necessary for this. They do not use a third party finance company so retailers deal directly with them. Viaduct also has nationwide coverage providing the service and support needed to keep retailers in business.” Mark Unwin Director of Viaduct says the company is looking forward to working with the New Zealand Retailers Association and their membership. “We are a customer-focussed company - even our best price guarantee has a retail focus. The exciting changes in technology mean that eftpos is no longer confined by phone lines or power cables, and neither is the New Zealand retailer,” says Mr Unwin.

The skimming scam that stole almost $5 million from Western Australians in the last 2 months was due to old eftpos machines! Thousands of WA McDonald’s customers have had money stolen from their bank accounts since September after their debit and credit cards were skimmed after EFTPOS transactions at stores around Perth. The device is the Ingenico PX328 pinpad, a decade-old terminal type, which is not tamper proof. Don’t let this happen to you! Keep in touch with Viaduct so you always have the most up-to-date terminal and software available. Call us on 0800 484 238. Read more about the scam here |

Signing for your credit-card payment at a restaurant or in a shop is to be phased out. The changes were announced by Visa earlier this week in the latest installment of its plans to migrate all Australian card holders and merchants to chip technology. Retailers will need to upgrade their EFTPOS terminals accordingly. This highlights the benefits to merchants of leasing their eftpos terminal and also keeping in touch with Viaduct by reading our blog and newsletters. If you have any questions, please call us on 0800 484 238. |
